Description
This is a late 1980s/1990s Dukane 40 kHz 700 watt Ultra-Com system that welds by time, absolute distance, collapse distance, energy or peak power, with programmable secondary controls and bad or suspect part limits on all primary parameters. This system has a second generation Ultra-Com weld controller. Prior to the introduction of the original Ultra-Com controller in 1985, no commercially available ultrasonic assembly system had collapse distance functions, which was so revolutionary that it was nearly universally copied by 1990.
The introduction of the second generation Ultra-Com in 1992 added a feature set that grew from control functions with rudimentary alarms to a complete set of programming options that allowed various applications that had previously produced very high levels of bad welds to produce assemblies that were significantly more consistent in physical properties and for the very difficult 15% of applications the only thing to come along that would produce more consistently was the introduction of servo controlled machines in the mid 2000s.
So for a good 40 kHz machine that is highly capable and competitive in quality of results with today’s equipment this machine is a considerable bargain.
Comes complete with everything pictured here, press with dual-pressure capability and one micron resolution optical linear encoder, new plastic safety switch and e-stop buttons mounted on the cast-iron base (sturdy enough for production but do not try to move the machine by grabbing the plastic boxes or you will damage them), air filter, all required cabling including two NEW ultrasound cables, 700 watt generator with fully automatic tuning, Ultra-Com with time, distance and power/energy functions, bad/suspect part limits, secondary control parameters, sequencing functions (data output by serial port does not function). Power and interconnect cords that are not new are in good condition. Includes the pictured transducer with 2.0 gain ratio booster and pictured horn (studs are 8mm). Components of the system have various build dates. Everything is reasonably clean and surprisingly good condition for a system of this age.
Requires 120V power to generator and Ultra-Com and compressed air to the press. Local pickup or ships on a pallet by LTL truck, approximate total weight 400 lb.
